Bellamar Caves

The Caves of Bellamar, the oldest active turistic attraction in Cuba, is one of the most beautiful of any on the island, not in vain, became a strong attraction for tourists just a while after they were discovered. The crystallization of a coraloidea, as abundant as portentous, sparkles in places the same as diamond, splitting the light into thousands and thousands of beams. Stalagmites and the pavement is uneven. At some points in this gallery are three pieces of wall and ceiling with naked crystallization. At intervals through the wall you can find henequen leaves. Drops of water falling on the clay give rise to a coarse crystallization it is a yellowish surface, crystal and opaque on the bottom. The roof of this vault is of coarse limestone, there is no evidence of releases and calms the mind and heart, gives new breath to continue his exploration. The low ceiling with has large areas of crystallization coraloidea and big beautiful flakes that look like porcelain.

Monserrat Heights Viewpoint

Monserrat Heights is a pleasant park that's also the site of La Ermita de Monserrat, a handsome, Colonial-Spanish style church. Built in 1875, the church is a shrine to the patron saint of Catalonians who immigrated to Cuba. This viewpoint has a spectacular view of the city and the bay, and the opposite direction is of the Yumuri River valley. There is also a snack bar in the park where you can refresh yourself.

Matanzas

Matanzas City

Known as the Creole Venice for the high number of bridges that set it apart, the City of Matanzas is located on a beautiful bay, beside the Yumuri and San Juan Rivers. Matanzas, a prosperous city, was founded in 1693 and which some call the Athens of Cuba, in reference to its many poets. Monumental buildings of neoclassical features are a proof of the boom that this quiet city has experienced beginning in late 18th century. Matanzas grew around a large bay, well protected by a solid network of fortresses the most important of which can still be visited and admired today. Parque Libertad is the main town square which is home to some valuable historic buildings.

Triolet Pharmaceutics Museum

This museum is a perfectly preserved 19th-century natural-medicine pharmacy that looks out onto the Parque de Libertad through large stained glass windows. The pharmacy closed its doors in 1964, and has been preserved exactly as it was on that day, down to the huge, ornate cash register; the log book with handwritten recipes for each prescription; the rolls of brown paper to wrap the glass bottles that were individually filled and labeled; and the ceiling-high, handsome wood-and-glass cases holding hundreds of decorative porcelain jars. There are guided tours to the distillery behind the shop, where the pharmacists manufactured their world-famous trademark syrups and tonics.
